Rothamsted Suction Trap captures
The latest aphid bulletin has just been released 2014webbulletin25.pdf together with a new issue of AHDB Aphid News ahdb_aphid_news_20140926.pdf.
Unfortunately there are no data available for Newcastle, Silwood, Wye or Scotland this week.
Pest update from Wellesbourne
Between Tuesday (23rd) and Friday (26th) we found:
- 6 carrot flies on traps in this year's carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 2 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There were 2 turnip moths, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
The samples from the 3 yellow water traps contained:
- 5 male and 9 female cabbage root flies
- 57 bean seed flies
- 2 small white butterflies
- 5 flea beetles

Between Friday (19th) and Tuesday (23rd) we found:
- 7 carrot flies on traps in carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 22 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There were 2 turnip moths, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
In 3 yellow water traps within our swede plot there were:
- 3 male and 9 female cabbage root flies
- 33 bean seed flies
- 15 flea beetles
- 2 small white butterflies

Between Tuesday (16th) and Friday (19th) we found:
- 6 carrot flies on traps in this year's carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 56 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There were 3 turnip moths, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
The samples from the 3 yellow water traps contained:
- 3 male and 18 female cabbage root flies
- 55 bean seed flies
- 7 small white butterflies
- 15 flea beetles

N.B. Data from all Scottish sites, Newcastle, Silwood Park and Wye are missing currently.

Pest update from Wellesbourne
Between Friday (12th) and Tuesday (16th) we found:
- 2 carrot flies on traps in carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 71 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There was 1 turnip moth, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
In 3 yellow water traps within our swede plot there were:
- 41 male and 47 female cabbage root flies
- 103 bean seed flies
- 13 flea beetles
- 5 small white butterflies

Between Tuesday (9th) and Friday (12th) we found:
- 13 carrot flies on traps in this year's carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 65 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There was 1 turnip moth, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
The samples from the 3 yellow water traps contained:
- 43 male and 39 female cabbage root flies
- 108 bean seed flies
- 23 small white butterflies
- 30 flea beetles

Between Friday (5th) and Tuesday (9th) we found:
- 10 carrot flies on traps in carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 44 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There was 1 turnip moth, no diamond-back moths and 1 silver Y moth (2 traps per species).
In 3 yellow water traps within our swede plot there were:
- 45 male and 33 female cabbage root flies
- 52 bean seed flies
- 42 flea beetles
- 12 small white butterflies

- 10 carrot flies on traps in this year's carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 136 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There was 1 turnip moth, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species).
The samples from the 3 yellow water traps have not been identified and counted yet.
