October 29, 2019

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Tuesday 29th October there were:

  • 2 male and 2 female cabbage root flies
  • 49 bean seed flies
  • 2 pollen beetles
  • 3 cabbage stem weevils
  • 1 cabbage stem flea beetle

There were 25 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

Three cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 25th and 29thOctober (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, 1 turnip moth, 1 silver Y moth and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species


October 26, 2019

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Friday 25th October there were:

  • 1 male and 4 female cabbage root flies
  • 21 bean seed flies
  • 6 pollen beetles
  • 21 cabbage stem weevils
  • 2 cabbage seed weevils
  • 4 cabbage stem flea beetles

There were 36 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

No cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 22nd and 25th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, no turnip moths, no silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species


AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been published.

The total numbers of pest aphids captured in the suction traps during the week ending 20 October are as follows: peach-potato aphid (73 - with 35 at Kirton), potato aphid (1), willow-carrot aphid (664 - with 452 at Dundee, 102 at York and 86 at Kirton), cabbage aphid (0), currant-lettuce aphid (2), pea aphid (7) and black bean aphid (25).

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Tuesday 22nd October there were:

  • 4 male and 9 female cabbage root flies
  • 29 bean seed flies
  • 1 pollen beetle
  • 8 cabbage stem weevils

There were 42 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

No cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 18th and 22nd October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, 1 turnip moth, 3 silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Friday 18th October there were:

  • 2 male and 12 female cabbage root flies
  • 34 bean seed flies
  • 1 flea beetle
  • 3 pollen beetles
  • 25 cabbage stem weevils
  • 1 cabbage stem flea beetle

There were 74 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

No cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 15th and 18th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, no turnip moths, 1 silver Y moth and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species


AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been published.

The total numbers of pest aphids captured in the suction traps during the week ending 13 October are as follows: peach-potato aphid (98 - with 70 at York), potato aphid (0), willow-carrot aphid (450 - with 298 at Dundee and 105 at Kirton), cabbage aphid (0), currant-lettuce aphid (3), pea aphid (2) and black bean aphid (8).

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Tuesday 15th October there were:

  • 5 male and 21 female cabbage root flies
  • 54 bean seed flies
  • 2 flea beetles
  • 1 pollen beetles
  • 2 flea beetles
  • 13 cabbage stem weevils
  • 4 cabbage stem flea beetles

There were 63 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

No cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 11th and 15th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, 4 turnip moths, 1 silver Y moth and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species.

Pest update frrom Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Friday 11th October there were:

  • 6 male and 19 female cabbage root flies
  • 48 bean seed flies
  • 0 flea beetles
  • 0 pollen beetles
  • 3 cabbage stem weevils
  • 2 cabbage stem flea beetles

There were 49 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

5 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 8th and 11th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, 0 turnip moths, 0 silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species.

AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB Aphid Newshas been published.

The total numbers of pest aphids captured in the suction traps during the week ending 6 October are as follows: peach-potato aphid (62), potato aphid (5), willow-carrot aphid (288 - with 142 at Dundee), cabbage aphid (4 - at Kirton), currant-lettuce aphid (2), pea aphid (19) and black bean aphid (30).

Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked yesterday (8th October) there were:

  • 31 male and 60 female cabbage root flies
  • 99 bean seed flies
  • 0 flea beetles
  • 1 pollen beetle
  • 16 cabbage stem weevils
  • 3 cabbage stem flea beetle
  • 1 cabbage seed weevil

There were 96 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

16 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 4th and 7th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, 1 turnip moth, 0 silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species.
