Pest update from Wellesbourne

These are the numbers of insects captured between 28th and 31st July.

Yellow water traps (3)

  • 21 male and 10 female cabbage root fly
  • 14 bean seed fly
  • 85 flea beetle
  • 168 pollen beetles
  • 11 cabbage stem weevil
  • 1 cabbage seed weevil
  • 1 cabbage stem flea beetle
  • 1 small white butterfly

Sticky traps for carrot fly

  • 31 carrot fly

Pheromone traps - 2 per species

  • Diamond-back moth 0
  • Silver Y moth 0
  • Turnip moth (cutworm) 0

5 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 'new' cauliflower plants.

Trap counts on Tuesday, 8th April

Yesterday in our 3 yellow water traps we captured:

  • 14 male and 4 female cabbage root flies
  • 22 bean seed flies
  • 1 pollen beetle

We also caught 1 male carrot fly on our sticky traps (3).
