Pest update from Wellesbourne
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne today there were:
- 78 male and 4 femaie cabbage root flies
- 129 bean seed flies
- 8 flea beetles
- 136 pollen beetles
- 18 cabbage stem weevils
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 4 cabbage seed weevils
There were 178 carrot flies on the sticky traps.
97 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 26 and 30 April (around 15 plants).
No moths were captured in our pheromone traps (diamond-back moth, silver Y moth, turnip moth, cabbage moth).

Update from Wellesbourne
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne today there were:
- 88 male and 10 femaie cabbage root flies
- 74 bean seed flies
- 0 flea beetles
- 18 pollen beetles
- 3 cabbage stem weevils
- 3 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 1 cabbage seed weevils
There were 36 carrot flies on the sticky traps.
We are now also sampling for cabbage root flies eggs (15 cauliflower plants) and 56 eggs were laid between 23 and 26 April.
No moths were captured in our pheromone traps (diamond-back moth, silver Y moth, turnip moth, cabbage moth).
AHDB Aphid News
The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been released for the week ending 21 April. The numbers of aphids captured in the netwrok of suction traps have increased considerably:
- Peach-potato aphid - captured at 7 sites
- Potato aphid - captured at 4 sites
- Cabbage aphid - captured at 3 sites
- Willow-carrot aphid - captured at 5 sites
- Pea aphid - captured at 5 sites
- Black-baen aphid - 4 sites

Update from Wellesbourne
We're now checking the water traps twice a week.
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne yesterday (23 April) there were:
- 199 male and 15 femaie cabbage root flies
- 23 bean seed flies
- 16 flea beetles
- 149 pollen beetles
- 37 cabbage stem weevils
- 12 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 56 cabbage seed weevils
There were 17 carrot flies on the sticky traps.
We are now also sampling for cabbage root flies eggs (15 cauliflower plants). 14 eggs were laid between 18 and 23 April.

AHDB Aphid News
The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been released. Between 8 and 14 April one potato aphid was captured at Writtle and one pea aphid at Silwood Park (Ascot).
Update from Wellesbourne
We're now checking the water traps twice a week.
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne yesterday (18 April) there were:
- 258 male and 24 femaie cabbage root flies
- 47 bean seed flies
- 8 flea beetles
- 175 pollen beetles
- 21 cabbage stem weevils
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetles
There was 1 carrot fly on the sticky traps.
We are now also sampling for cabbage root flies eggs (15 cauliflower plants). 17 eggs were laid between 15 and 18 April.
April 16, 2019
Update from Wellesbourne
We have now started checking the water traps twice a week.
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne on 11th April there were:
- 20 male and 4 femaie cabbage root flies
- 33 bean seed flies
- 5 flea beetles
- 45 pollen beetles
When all the traps were checked at Wellesbourne on 15th April there were:
- 90 male and 7 femaie cabbage root flies
- 83 bean seed flies
- 7 flea beetles
- 59 pollen beetles
- 5 cabbage stem weevils
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetles
There were 4 carrot flies on the sticky traps.
We are now also sampling for cabbage root flies eggs (15 cauliflower plants). None were laid up to 15th April.

AHDB Aphid News
The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been released.
It is still a bit early for flights by the pest aphids of vegetable and salad crops and only one potato aphid was captured in the suction trap network during the week up to 7 April – at Preston.

Update from Wellesbourne
When the traps were checked at Wellesbourne on 9th April there were:
- 20 male and 5 femaie cabbage root flies
- 305 bean seed flies
- 9 flea beetles
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 2 cabbage stem weevils
- 88 pollen beetles
- No carrot flies

Latest 'news'
The first AHDB Aphid News has been issued. To date one potato aphid has been captured in the suction trap at Starcross and one willow-carrot aphid has been captured in each of the traps at Writtle and Starcross.
When the traps were checked at Wellesbourne on 2nd April there were:
- 24 bean seed flies
- 32 flea beetles
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetle
- 110 cabbage stem weevils
- 894 pollen beetles
- 1 carrot fly
