pest update from Wellesbourne
Between Friday (22nd) and Tuesday (26th) we found:
- 49 carrot flies on traps in this year's carrots (3 traps)
- Total of 16 cabbage root fly eggs from around 15 cauliflower plants.
- There were 5 turnip moths, no diamond-back moths and no silver Y moths (2 traps per species). This looks as if it may be the start of the second generation of turnip moths - which generally does not cause problems.
The 3 yellow water traps caught:
- 94 male and 35 female cabbage root flies
- 55 bean seed flies
- 11 flea beetles
- 1 small white butterfly
