Pest update from Wellesbourne
Between 12th and 15th June our 2 yellow water traps captured:
- Cabbage root flies - 3 male and 0 female
- Bean seed flies - 6
- Pollen beetles - 608
- Flea beetles - 5
- Cabbage stem weevil - 2
- Cabbage seed weevil - 0
- Cabbage stem flea beetle - 1
We caught 14 carrot flies on 3 sticky traps in spring-sown carrots.
There were 2 diamond-back moths, no silver Y moths, no cabbage moths and 2 turnip moths in our traps (2 traps per pest).
There were 17 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.

Peach–potato aphids have been caught across England this week in the STs (suction traps), with the highest number recorded from Wellesbourne (42) and now across all of Britain this year in YWT (yellow water traps), except North Scotland.
- The potato aphid was caught at five ST sites this bulletin week, increasing in number only at Preston. They have also now been found in low numbers from all regions this year in the YWT, apart from North Scotland.
- The mealy cabbage aphid was caught in single figures from six ST sites this week, increasing only at Silwood.
- A single currant-lettuce aphid was recorded from Wellesbourne in the ST this week.
- The willow ̶ carrot aphid was caught at all sites this week, with numbers generally down and only increasing at Newcastle. The highest number was recorded from Kirton (30).
- The pea aphid was caught in single figures at eleven sites across England this week and increasing at five.
- The black bean aphid was caught in single figures at five sites this week, no field reports have been received.
