AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB News has been published.

Very low numbers of peach-potato aphid (2), potato aphid (0), willow-carrot aphid (2), cabbage aphid (0), currant-lettuce aphid (1), pea aphid (1) and black bean aphid (1) were captured in suction traps during the week ending 18th August.


Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked today there were:

  • 221 male and 28 female cabbage root flies
  • 26 bean seed flies
  • 37 flea beetles
  • 26 pollen beetles
  • 0 cabbage stem weevils
  • 8 cabbage stem flea beetles
  • 0 cabbage seed weevils
  • 1 small white butterfly

There were 27 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps in the new plot for 2019.

148 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 20th and 23rd August (around 15 plants).

One diamond-back moth, 0 turnip moths, 0 silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species.
