Pest update from Wellesbourne
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne today there were:
Traps in last year's swede plot
- 0 male and 2 femaie cabbage root flies
- 7 bean seed flies
- 12 flea beetles
- 88 pollen beetles
- 9 cabbage stem weevils
- 8 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 9 cabbage seed weevils
Traps in the new swede plot
- 4 male and 0 femaie cabbage root flies
- 17 bean seed flies
- 357 flea beetles
- 66 pollen beetles
- 14 cabbage stem weevils
- 9 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 3 cabbage seed weevils
There were 88 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps in the overwintered carrot plot and 555 flies in a newly-sown plot.
45 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 14 and 17 May (around 15 plants).
We caught 1 turnip moth and 1 diamond-back moth. No moths were captured in our other pheromone traps ( silver Y moth, cabbage moth). There are 2 traps for each species.
