Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne today there were:

Traps in last year's swede plot

  • 33 male and 12 femaie cabbage root flies
  • 34 bean seed flies
  • 15 flea beetles
  • 247 pollen beetles
  • 16 cabbage stem weevils
  • 3 cabbage stem flea beetles
  • 3 cabbage seed weevils

Traps in the new swede plot

  • 17 male and 2 femaie cabbage root flies
  • 32 bean seed flies
  • 29 flea beetles
  • 89 pollen beetles
  • 9 cabbage stem weevils
  • 4 cabbage stem flea beetles
  • 2 cabbage seed weevils

There were 89 carrot flies on the sticky traps.

105 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 30 April and 3 May (around 15 plants).

No moths were captured in our pheromone traps (diamond-back moth, silver Y moth, turnip moth, cabbage moth).
