AHDB Aphid news
The latest issue of AHDB Aphid News has just been released (captures up to 24 April).
- Large numbers of cabbage aphids (Brevicoryne brassicae) have been seen on individual plants in winter OSR.
- No peach–potato aphids have been caught in the suction-traps this week, but a single potato aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae) was caught at Writtle.
- This year’s first pea aphids were caught at Wellesbourne and Silwood, two to three weeks earlier than the 10-yr average, just as some peas and spring beans are now emerging.
- The willow ̶carrot aphid was caught at four sites this week, these included first arrivals at Hereford (1) and Starcross (2) and captures at Kirton (2) and Brooms Barn (1).
