Ahdb Aphid News
The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been released (week ending 23 September):
- Peach–potato aphids were captured in suction traps at seven sites, with numbers increasing at six sites (maximum of 4).
- Single mealy cabbage aphids were captured at Gogarbank and Newcastle.
- Willow-carrot aphids were captured at Dundee (13) and Silwood Park (1). No male individuals were captured.
- A single black bean aphid was captured at each of 4 sites and 2 were captured at Gogarbank.
- A single pea aphid was captured at Starcross.
- A single currant-lettuce aphid was captured at Silwood Park.
Pest update from Wellesbourne
Between 25th and 28th September our 3 yellow water traps captured:
- Cabbage root flies - 27 male and 13 female
- Bean seed flies - 17
- Pollen beetles - 6
- Flea beetles - 85
- Cabbage stem weevil - 2
- Cabbage seed weevil - 0
- Cabbage stem flea beetle - 10
We caught no carrot flies on 3 sticky traps in our second sowing of carrots.
There were no diamond-back moths, no silver Y moths, no cabbage moths and no turnip moths in our pheromone traps (2 traps per pest).
There were 3 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.
