Pest update from Wellesbourne
When the water traps were checked at Wellesbourne today there were:
Traps in the new swede plot (the traps in the old plot have been removed):
- 1 male and 0 femaie cabbage root flies
- 24 bean seed flies
- 148 flea beetles
- 88 pollen beetles
- 24 cabbage stem weevils
- 9 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 2 cabbage seed weevils
There were 21 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps in the overwintered carrot plot and 137 flies in a newly-sown plot.
5 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 24 and 28 May (around 15 plants).
9 turnip moths were captured. No moths were captured in our other pheromone traps (silver Y moth, cabbage moth, diamond-back moth). There are 2 traps for each species.
