Pest numbers at Wellesbourne

Today there were 5 carrot flies (3 traps).

In the water traps (3) there were:

  • 35 male and 6 female cabbage root flies
  • 55 bean seed flies
  • 56 pollen beetles
  • 8 flea beetles
  • 7 cabbage stem weevils

There were no cabbage root fly eggs (15 cauliflower plants).


AHDB Aphid News

The latest issue of AHDB Aphid News has just been released.

  • Many reports have been received of large numbers of cabbage aphids (Brevicoryne brassicae) on individual plants in winter oil seed rape in the South West and the West Midlands.
  • No peach–potato aphids have been caught in the suction-trap this week, but a single potato aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae) was caught at Rothamsted, four weeks earlier than the 10-yr average.
  • Single willow ̶carrot aphids were caught at three sites this week (Broom's Barn, Writtle and Wye), including a first arrival at Wye.
