The Rising Sun, A5, Brownhills | Good food, service & Spuds!
I was on the road yesterday and found that my route took me past an old favourite stop, The Rising Sun, Chester Road North, the A5, Brownhills.

I found that the service was still friendly with a varied menu and selected the fish pie. The pie had varied fish and seafood and was tasty as usual but the potatoes brought out the spud snob in this irishman. New season boiled Maris Pipers, perfect!

I returned to the Rising Sun last Wednesday looking for their fish pie. I had a wobbly temporary crown and was heading back to the dentists so was looking for invalid food.
I found that the menu had been reduced to a single sheet but with most pub standards still covered. The fish pie was off so I went for the battered wet fish. The fish was excellent, I could tell the season by the potatos used for the chips, the spud snob rears again and I got back to my dentist intact.

I called in at the Rising Sun again today. I found a different blackboard emphasis on burgers and baguettes only to be told that there was no food this lunchtime. I get a lot of visitors searching for pub food on the A5 so I feel responsible to these visitors to keep up to date. Being based in Coventry I only get up that way when work and West Midlands SMEs take me that way.
