Catching up with the pest counts!

A bit behind with the blog as there was a meeting last week of the International Organisation for Biological Control Working Group on pests of vegetables....

On 23 September we found:

  • 17 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 sampling plants
  • 7 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 104 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 5 small white butterflies
  • 15 turnip moths (2 traps)
  • 10 flea beetles (3 traps)

On 26 September we found:

  • 1 cabbage root fly egg on 15 sampling plants
  • 7 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 79 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 4 small white butterflies
  • 10 turnip moths (2 traps)
  • 8 flea beetles (3 traps)

Wellesbourne pest counts update

Today we found:

  • 26 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 sampling plants
  • 5 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 103 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • No small white butterflies!
  • 16 turnip moths (2 traps)
  • 3 flea beetles (3 traps)

On Monday we found:

  • 29 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 sampling plants
  • 6 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 150 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 25 small white butterflies (3 traps)
  • 20 turnip moths (2 traps)
  • 4 flea beetles (3 traps)
