AHDB Aphid News
The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News is available (week ending 5th August).
- The peach–potato aphid was recorded from six suction trap sites, increasing at Newcastle. There was a hotspot at Kirton (67).
- The potato aphid was recorded from Dundee, Gogarbank and Newcastle, with numbers increasing at only Newcastle.
- The mealy cabbage aphid was recorded from 10 sites but decreasing across the country, apart from Hereford (where there was an increase).
- One currant-lettuce aphid was recorded from the Kirton ST this week.
- No willow ̶carrot aphids were recorded.
- The pea aphid was recorded from nine sites, increasing at only Newcastle and Hereford. The highest number was recorded from York (42).
- The black bean aphid was caught at five sites. There was a hotspot at Dundee (32).

Pest update from Wellesbourne
Between 3rd and 7th August our 3 yellow water traps captured:
- Cabbage root flies - 0 male and 6 female
- Bean seed flies - 16
- Pollen beetles - 25
- Flea beetles - 670
- Cabbage stem weevil - 6
- Cabbage seed weevil - 0
- Cabbage stem flea beetle - 1
We caught 91 carrot flies on 3 sticky traps in our first sowing of carrots and 16 carrot flies on our traps in the second sowing.
There were 2 diamond-back moths, no silver Y moths, no cabbage moths and 1 turnip moth in our traps (2 traps per pest).
There were 21 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.

AHDB Aphid News
Tha latest edition of AHDB Aphid News is available - for the week ending 29th July.
- The peach–potato aphid was recorded from 11 suction trap sites, decreasing over most of Britain with numbers only increasing at Dundee. There was, however, a hotspot at Kirton (266).
- The potato aphid was caught at six sites, with numbers increasing at only York and Starcross.
- The mealy cabbage aphid was recorded from all sites but increasing at only three. There was a hotspot at York (125).
- Two currant-lettuce aphids were recorded from the Hereford trap.
- The willow ̶carrot aphid was caught at six sites in single figures, with numbers increasing at four. The highest number found was at Preston (4).
- The pea aphid was recorded from all sites, apart from Silwood, and increased in number at four. There were hotspots at York (155) and Kirton (106).
- The black bean aphid was caught at 11 sites, increasing in number at four. There was a hotspot at Dundee (108).

Pest update 3rd August
Between 31st July and 3rd August our 3 yellow water traps captured:
- Cabbage root flies - 2 male and 8 female
- Bean seed flies - 23
- Pollen beetles - 16
- Flea beetles - 640
- Cabbage stem weevil - 4
- Cabbage seed weevil - 0
- Cabbage stem flea beetle - 2
We caught 45 carrot flies on 3 sticky traps in our first sowing of carrots and 12 carrot flies on our traps in the second sowing.
There were 1 diamond-back moth, no silver Y moths, no cabbage moths and no turnip moths in our traps (2 traps per pest).
There were 36 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.
Pest update 31 July
Between 27th and 31st July our 3 yellow water traps captured:
- Cabbage root flies - 3 male and 2 female
- Bean seed flies - 30
- Pollen beetles - 29
- Flea beetles - 555
- Cabbage stem weevil - 3
- Cabbage seed weevil - 0
- Cabbage stem flea beetle - 7
We caught 12 carrot flies on 3 sticky traps in our first sowing of carrots and 5 carrot flies on our traps in the second sowing.
There were 3 diamond-back moths, 2 silver Y moths, no cabbage moths and 1 turnip moth in our traps (2 traps per pest).
There were 48 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.
