Wellesbourne pest counts 30th August

Today we found:
  • 99 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 sampling plants
  • 26 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 113 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 1 pollen beetle (3 traps)
  • 7 small white and 3 large white butterflies (3 traps)
  • 10 turnip moths (2 traps)

Yesterday we found:

  • 120 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 sampling plants
  • 42 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 166 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 5 pollen beetles (3 traps)
  • 29 small white and 8 large white butterflies (3 traps)
  • 11 turnip moths (2 traps)

Friday's pest update from Wellesbourne

Today we found:

  • 33 cabbage root fly eggs on 15 new sampling plants
  • 55 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 130 bean seed flies (3 traps)
  • 18 pollen beetles and 1 flea beetle (3 traps)
  • 11 small white and 3 large white butterflies (3 traps)
  • 5 silver Y moths (2 traps)

Another pest update from Wellesbourne

Today we found:

  • 1 cabbage root fly egg (15 plants)
  • 19 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 19 bean seed flies, 1 flea beetle, 41 pollen beetles (3 traps)
  • 8 small white butterflies and 5 large white butterflies

Silver Y moths

There are still plenty of silver Y moths about and they are feeding on a variety of flowering plants. This is one captured in a light trap in Warwickshire on Sunday night.

Yesterday we found:

  • 15 carrot flies (3 traps) - numbers still low
  • No cabbage root fly eggs (15 plants)
  • 4 silver Y moths, 1 turnip moth, 1 diamond-back moth (2 traps each species)
  • 28 bean seed flies, 28 pollen beetles, 2 flea beetles (3 traps)
  • 14 small white and 10 large white butterflies (3 traps)
