Pest update from Wellesbourne
When the water traps in the swede plot were checked today there were:
- 7 male and 10 female cabbage root flies
- 30 bean seed flies
- 0 flea beetles
- Approx 4,300 pollen beetles
- 1 cabbage stem weevil
- 2 cabbage stem flea beetles
- 0 cabbage seed weevils
There were 5 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps in the new plot for 2019.
64 cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 25 and 28 June (around 15 plants).
3 diamond-back moths and 3 turnip moths were captured. No moths were captured in our other pheromone traps (silver Y moth, cabbage moth). There are 2 traps for each species.
We also caught 4 diamond-back moths on 2 carrot fly traps in the swede plot and are baited with a pheromone lure (experimental).
