Rothamsted suction trap captures for week ending 15th June
The latest aphid bulletin has just been released 2014webbulletin11.pdfahdb_aphid_news_20140620.pdf. A warm and dry period in the week ending 15th June resulted in good conditions for aphid flight. Natural enemy impact is growing, in particular ladybirds and aphid parasitoids are being reported more frequently.
- Numbers of peach–potato aphid (Myzus persicae) remain high in eastern England. The first Scottish individual has been caught in the suction-trap at Edinburgh.
-
The potato aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae) was caught across the Country in low numbers.
- The mealy cabbage aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae) was caught at five sites this week in low numbers.
-
The numbers of willow carrot aphid (Cavariella aegopodii) are generally unchanged or declining compared to last week.
- The currant-lettuce aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri) was caught at Rothamsted and Starcross (1 at each location).
- The black bean aphid (Aphis fabae) was caught at 8 sites. Highest numbers were 4 at Rothamsted and 3 at Writtle.
