Willow carrot aphid counts

Marian counted the willow-carrot aphids on 3 x 0.5m lengths of carrot row. All of the counts to date are shown below:

Pest update from Wellesbourne for 1st July

On 1st July we recovered:

  • 13 carrot flies (3 traps)
  • 8 silver y moths (2 traps)
  • 3 turnip moths (2 traps)
  • 8 cabbage root fly eggs (on 15 new cauliflower plants)
  • 36 bean seed flies
  • 4 pollen beetles

Richard Harrington from the Rothamsted Insect Survey was on the BBC's Farming Today Programme on Radio 4 this morning (6.22 minutes in). He was talking about the suction trap network and the effects of the late spring on aphid activity.
