Gone lion tracking

Writing about web page http://www.parks-sa.co.za/parks/kruger/default.html

Expect this blog to go rather quiet for the next two weeks. I'm off for my annual trip out into the bush, skulking around after dangerous predators, raptors and unusual small furry mammals.

This year we're going to be taking it easy, just going to a few little bush camps in the Kruger Park, rather than disappearing into the wilds of the Kalahari. The Kruger is considered by most to be a relatively tame reserve, with good roads and camps with fences. It does, however, offer excellent game viewing, and is the size of Wales , so overcrowding is not a problem. The rangers in the Kruger also run excellent bush walks, offering the opportunity to get close to animals whilst on foot. Last time we went, one of our walks took us right through the middle of a pride of lions. Emma actually chased a lioness of its kill by giving it one of her teacher stares.

After the Kruger we'll be going back to Emma's parents house in Gaborone, Botswana, just around the corner from Mma Ramotswe's house in Zebra Drive. At that point we'll be back in civilisation, most importantly with internet access.
