POSTDOC AND PHD OPPORTUNITIES!

We are recruiting a postdoc and PhD students to join the lab to work on the biophysics of bacterial electrical signalling!

We are privileged to receive research project funding from the Leverhulme Trust. The project will explore the potential synapse-like electrochemical signalling in bacteria. The Leverhulme Trust generously funds a 3-year postdoc and a 3.5 year PhD studentship.

We are looking for people with background/interests in physics of life, soft and active matter physics, quatitative biology, and electrophysiology. Experience in microbiology is not necessary.

In addition to this, there are fully funded PhD studentship opportunity at MIBTP -Midland Integrative Bioscience Training Partnership. The application deadline for this excellent program is 16 January 2025. I am proposing three projects:

• Investigating heat-based detection and manipulation of bacterial biofilms
• Molecular dynamics of a bacterial potassium channel YugO
• Structural and cellular characterisation of Bacillus subtilis chloride channels
