'Exploring the Omnivore' in Chile

Here is a video of the first part of a presentation I gave in Santiago, Chile, earlier this year. I was invited over by the Observatorio Politicales Culturales to contribute to the discussions at their 'Congess of Cultural Politics: What do we measure? How do we evaluate?'. The presentation is a reflection on the methodological and conceptual limitations of the omnivore debate, using data from the UK. The gentleman to my right is one of the co-authors of Culture, Class, Distinction, Modesto Gayo-Cal. We are hoping to build on these conversations in a funding bid on exploring 'the omnivore' - a decidedly Western European or North American concept - in Latin America.

My slightly odd opening remarks relate to the fact that Sir Paul McCartney had played Santiago the night before. You had to be there, I suppose.
