Pest update from Wellesbourne

Between 1st and 4th May our 3 yellow water traps captured:

  • Cabbage root flies - 72 males and 18 females
  • Bean seed flies - 122
  • Pollen beetles - 133
  • Flea beetles - 4
  • Cabbage stem weevils - 1
  • Cabbage seed weevils - 2

We also checked the carrot fly traps and caught 121 flies on 3 traps.

There were no diamond-back or silver Y moths in our traps (2 traps per pest).

There were 9 cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants.



AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been released - for the week ending 29th April.

  • In accordance with the more seasonal cooler air temperature and wetter conditions, the total number of aphids flying and species diversity has decreased this bulletin week.
  • No willow-carrot aphids were caught this bulletin week.
  • So far this year, no peach-potato aphids, potato aphids or black bean aphids have been caught in any of the suction traps.

Pest update from Wellesbourne 1st May

Between 27th April and 1st May our 3 yellow water traps captured:

  • Cabbage root flies - 16 males and 5 females
  • Bean seed flies - 198
  • Pollen beetles - 1
  • Flea beetles - 1

We also checked the carrot fly traps and caught 9 flies on 3 traps.

There were no diamond-back or silver Y moths in our traps (2 traps per pest).

There were also no cabbage root fly eggs around our 15 brassica plants!
