Okay okay so I'm back…
Well, I felt a bit of a wimp really. Now that it's warmed up and I've discovered just how long it actually takes to walk from Canley and how boring it is... I got back on the bike again this morning. so much nicer!
And I really did hate paying £6 - yes really £6! - for a taxi from here to the station - obscene!
Anyway - I will be a good sensible girl and go by the crossings. No need for bloodshed just yet.
Thanks for the encouragement.

time to hang up the helmet
Well, I finally decided the cold and damp combined with the scary traffic in the dark was too much for me. I have ditched the Brommie for the winter. I am determined to get back in the saddle as soon as the nights get lighter.
The weather didn't bother me too much but I knew it would get worse - it was the traffic. Had a few close shaves as, despite my very bright jacket and lights, drivers seem to get totally blind in the dark.
Missing the ride already actually but I am walking from Canley to the Uni so should still keep fit and get some air in my lungs every day.
May or may not find anything to blog about until the crocuses start peeping so, have a good Christmas!

Nearly chickened out
Well it got cold and I very nearly chickened out and retired the Brommie for the winter... but then it got warm (ish) again so i am glad I am still on it.
A couple of times I have come in the car and I really do hate those traffic jams. Does nothing for my state of mind. Coming on the bike may be a little more complicated than jumping in a car each morning but at least I get to work feeling ready for the day ahead.
I am losing weight, getting fitter, saving money and helping the planet all at the same time - what could be better!
I have also decided not to buy a small car to get me through the worst of the winter. I'll get a taxi to the station near my house, train to Canley and then walk from there to Uni - it's not far at all. My wonderful husband has also promised to pick me up from my local station every night. So no need to buy another hunk of polluting metal!
But in the meantime I will keep biking for as long as I can.
