‘AISLE 16’ – Saturday 14th May 2005.
Browns Café Bar & Restaurant, Earl Street, Coventry, from 2:00pm. FREE.
Cutting edge performance poetry in the form of Glastonbury Festival and Edinburgh Fringe veterans Aisle 16, who will demonstrate their “mutant hybrid” style in Coventry. Aisle 16 will be supported by two of the region’s best poets, Kim Trusty and Matt Nunn.
Aisle 16 have been performing together since 2000, touring extensively and picking up many rave reviews along the way. The group’s performances are a mixture of accessibility, acerbity, beauty and comedy.
As Scotsgay put it, ““You don’t see many five star reviews for poetry gigs but Aisle16 take the genre to a whole new level … Genius.” *”.
Kim Trusty, winner of Fireweed’s First Annual Poetry Contest in 2001, has toured extensively across Toronto, Canada, performing her work to enthralled audiences. Matt Nunn also reaches a wide audience, currently holding the position of Poet In Residence at Birmingham City Football Club.
Open mic slots also available.
