what I learned, reflection on activity and action plan for team role

The presentation introduced Tuckman's Model of group development, Belbin team roles and the stucture of a balanced team.

In Tuckman's Model of group development, I think we should care the storming stage most beacause it may stop the team to work properly and there is potential probability of converting from other stages to this stage. To be patient and rational can be one proper attitude to in this stage. And this stage tests the ability of the leader.

I am a monitor evaluator due to Belbin team roles.  Monitor evaluators are serious-minded and make sufficient thinking before acting, but they may lack the ability to motive others.

The Activity

Our induction plan for the 20 students study programme contains all important parts but due to the time limit there are not many details.

The aim of the task was not shown explicitly. The decisions are made quickly without much consideration.

Ideas were communicated well but some of the members kept talking so that others may lack a chance to express their idea. The atmosphere was quite rush.

Somebody did take the lead to make the discussion more efficient. Most of the members had some ideas.

Some of my suggestion was objected by someone. And my consideration of details was generalised in some way by others. I think that I should write down my consideration and insist on my opinion with explanations.

Action plan

1. I think i will try to understand more how the Doing type of people work and get used to their quick response in next teamwork.

2. Be aware of the different types of people and try to identify the roles of people.

3. When working in a team, try to evaluate the structure of the team, i.e. examining whether it is a balanced team.

First review action plan for reading

It started well but the tough assignment and essay leave me with no time for reading. Maybe this last week and the vaccation will give me sufficient time to read.

First review action plan for making notes

Key words are helpful but easy to lose track if I do not revise much.

The speed of coping notes improves a little bit

Leaving some space for marginal do help to make my note more clear and esay to edit and remark.

Second review action plan for communication

I have tried a lot on starting a coversation, but it seems aliittle hard. The reason is that when I chat I tend to relax but I need to concentrate to understand others' English. So I end up with either too focus to say something or understanding not well what others are discussing.
