Working on a CBE mini project

Lecture on Monday morning was about an introduction to Creating Business Excellence. Paul, our couse leader, started the lecture by offering a Q&A sessions. I'm very much appreciate for his patient on answering questions and giving us useful advices. Furthermore, he went through the aim of module, the contexts, assessment method and the learning environment. Finally, the lecuter ended up with an open discussion with quality after we finished watching a BBC video about Deming's Profound Knowledge.

Although not too much academic knowledge was giving, Paul's idea, or the innovation and motivation for designing this course, really inspired me a lot. Please allow me to quote directly from WMG homepage about the aim of this course, "Management for Business Excellence is an innovative MSc degree course designed for those who want to become leaders and managers of business excellence in technology-based organisations. It is suitable for high achievers who want to be challenged in the way they think about business management and problems." After Paul's lecture on Monday, I gradually understand why is indeed an innovative course and why it is only suitable for person who want to be challenged. It is innovative because you are about to explore the world of "business excellence" by yourself or with your team. I totally agree with Paul's idea that once you have been given a task, or a project during your working time, you won't have a chance to have a lecture first. All you can do is to study and research by yourself. Although I understand that some companies offer training opportunity, they are very limit. In addition, it is very challenge because the way you receive and understand knowledge has been changed. It is a self improvment and self learning process.

During the team study time, our team immediately decided to work on the mini project now. However, as Michael, who is our excellent and experienced in economic team player, mentioned in his Warwick'blog (Once you logged in Please click: http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/mwilliams/entry/cbe_introduction/), it is very difficult to make a decision when everyone has a good idea. Again, it comes back to team building and team cooperation, isn't? Following up today's discussion in Learning Grid, I am very much appreciate that how hard our team members has already worked for this mini project in such short time. We will have a further discussion on answering those questions on later this Thursday. I would like to write more about what we learn and found out later this Friday.
