Reflection!!There are some tips of impletementing knowledge management system!!

1. Identify tackit knowledge first: Many organizations find that identifying their team's tcait knowledge is the biggest hurdle. If you implement a knowledge management system in your department or company, start with a brainstorming session with your team to get their ideas flowing on how to capture this.

2. Start with a small team: It's very easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge that could be shared. Start with a samll group, in one department, and grow from there. This will help you figure out what information you'd like to keep, and how you'd like to organize it.

3. Help staff feel comfortable about sharing knowledge: It might be hard to "sell" konwledge management to your team. After all, you're asking them to share their hard-won knowledge and esperience, the very things that make them valuable to the company. (This can be a powerful incentive for people not to share their knowledge!) Make knowledge sharing part of the company culture, and something that everyone does. This will help make team members feel more comfortable about getting involved. And, consider bringing knowledge sharing into your formal approach to performance management, so that people are rewarded for sharing information freely.

4. Make it as easy as possible for your team to share information: Everyone is busy. If being part of a knowledge management program is difficult or time-consuming, people may not want to be involved. The easier it is for people to participate, the omre likely you are to succeed.

5. Plan for retiring team members: Retirement is a major reason why so many oragnizations are trying to quickly implement knowledge management systems right now. If you're facing a baby-boomer generation that's about to walk out of the door, it makes sense to start collecting their experience first.

Drawback of MRP

Drawback of MRP

MRP is not excellent enought, there are some shotcomings of MRP. The most important one is the Capacity.

MRP expects the lead time to be sonstant regardless of how much work has been released into the production system, so it is implicitly assuming infinite capacity. This can create problems when production levels are at or near capacity. One way to address this problems is to make sure that hte MPS is capacity feasible. Rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP) attempts to do this by checking the capacity of a few critical resources. RCCP makes use of the bill of resources (BOR) for each items on MPS. The BOR specifies the number of hours required at each critical resource to build a partical resource over the end items in the MPS. RCCP then checks whether the available resources are enough to cover the MPS on each time bucket. Notice that RCCP does not perform time offests, so the calculation of the number of hours required has to be done with time buckets that are large enough so that parts and their components can all be completed within a single time bucket. This usually makes RCCP an optimistic estimation of what can be done. Advanced MRP system provide more detailed capacity analysis proposing alternative production schedules when the current plan is not feasible.

June 1st:

This is the first time I come to Warwick and it is my pleasure joining in such an interesting and friendly class and make some new friends. KBAM is a special course that students were divided into several groups and needed to learn the Knowledge management and asset management by themselves and finished a group work. After the group work, our tutor Paul will give us comments.

After knowing each group member, we concluded all the problems that waverider has. After finding most of the problems, we got a little loss because we only understand a little about the knowledge and asset management. Therefore, at night, every team members read the file of knowledge and asset management.

June 2nd:

Today, we continued completing categorizingthe problems, like which problems belong to KM Facet and which belong to the AM Facet. After categorized the problems, the group thinking became clear and the whole process became more logic. We deperately linked the KM and AM to the EFQM system and found the relationship between them.

The wholeday team work is very efficiently!! I like my team!! All teammembers contribute their efforts!!
