Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme

Writing about web page http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/academicoffice/funding/fundingyourstudies/pgceandpg/wtmss/

The University of Warwick is pleased to announce an innovative scholarship scheme totaling £600,000 for postgraduate taught masters students. The scholarship will contribute to course costs and living expenses. The scholarship scheme is part of a Higher Education Council for England (HEFCE) initiative aimed at removing barriers to postgraduate education. In combination with HEFCE funding, a number of these scholarships will also be supported through the generous charitable donations of alumni and friends of the University, who recognise the challenges many undergraduates face in continuing to postgraduate study.

The scheme is open to applicants who are applying for entry to postgraduate study in 2014/15. You do not have to have undertaken your degree course at the University of Warwick to be eligible to apply.

Third Star

James (Cumberbatch) wants to make the most of his life – what’s left of it.

He invites his three closest friends to join him on a camping trip to his favourite place in the world. The undertaking, however, is fraught with practical difficulties, surreal encounters and emotionally ravaging revelations. For his best friend Miles, the trip means wrestling with the gloomy reality that the ones he loves tend to die. For Davy it’s about being there and holding the effort together, while for Bill it’s about running away from the mistakes he’s made and the comfortable trap that is his life.

Each step of the journey is one step further from the past and to a brave new world about courage, dignity and the beauty that lies in the friendship between these four young men.

Reminder: Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) 2011

Writing about web page http://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/warwick/ptes2011

Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) 2011 (closes 31 May 2011, 23.50 BST; only students fully enrolled on a Master’s level programme are eligible to participate, except those with an overseas study location, i.e. those who never come to Warwick during the course of their study)

This survey has been developed by the Higher Education Academy and is currently in use at over 90 other higher education institutions across the UK. The overall aim is to identify, at both local and national level, areas where improvements could be made and efforts targeted further to enhance the provision of postgraduate taught programmes.

PTES is an online questionnaire and it should not take longer than 20 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous and cannot be tracked back in any way. All results will be presented in an aggregated form. A high response rate is necessary to obtain robust results, so your participation is very important and greatly appreciated.

PTES is available until 31 May 2011 (23.50 BST) and can be accessed from: http://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/warwick/ptes2011

Log-in details were provided in emails sent by the Graduate School in early March, April and May. Any questions regarding the survey, including issues with access, should be directed to Martin Mik (m.mik@warwick.ac.uk) in the Graduate School.

Induction Day

Writing about web page http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/med/study/cpd/pgle/induction/

To introduce you to Warwick Medical School and the University of Warwick two induction days are scheduled in the 2008/09 academic year. On these days you will be able to meet key members of both academic and administration staff who will be involved in your study and have the opportunity to attend information sessions on the use of the library and associated resources, IT registration and mechanisms of student support.

Today we welcome many of you to the first of these days and we look forward to putting faces to names!

However we also appreciate that due to very nature of part time postgraduate study some students will not be able to attend events held on campus so key information is provided online.

We are currently developing an Online Induction Tutorial and would really appreciate some feedback from students.
