    5. Bake in a moderate oven 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4 for 20–25 mins in two tins, or 40–45 in one tin.
    6. When cool, fill with jam or cream.

LET'S REWIND THAT TO SEE THE MOO FOO VERSION!!!!
    (brrrrrrrr….)

    1. Creamed margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
    2. Eggs beaten in one at a time, adding a spoonful of flour with each. beat beat
    3. Put rest of flour in and beated mixture to death.
    4. "Place mixture into greased 18 cm (7inch) cake tin or 2×18 cm (7inch) sandwich tin" ??? WTF!?!?!
    5. Fetch dining room chair.
    6. With help from dining room chair can reach top cupboard where tins are.
    7. Bring tins down … tins are of various unknown sizes.
    8. Run off to find a ruler.
    9. Cannot find a ruler.
    10. Goes into sewing kit and brings out measuring tape.
    11. Measure tins … tins are 6 inch and 8 inch, not 7 inch.
    12. Beat the mixture for good measure and put into 2×8 inch tin expecting to take 5 mins off cooking time.
    13. "Bake in a moderate oven 180C" … oven not on.
    14. Pre-heat oven to 180C
    15. Oven is FAN ASSISTED - remember something about fan ovens different
    16. Run to find instructions for fan assisted oven.
    17. Cannot find fan assisted oven manual but finds: "For Fan Assisted Ovens, reduce cooking time according to manufacturers instructions".
    18. Oven pre-heated: put cake tins in with cake mixture in them. Check the time.
    19. After 15 mins removed from oven – cakes look a little flat.
    20. When cool, turned out onto rack.
    21. "When cool, fill with jam or cream" – have no jam or cream.
    22. F***!
