Hay fever

This morning I went to see my doctor in health centre and told her that my nose was stuffed with mucus; my eyes were blocked with sleep; and I had a running nose, eyes itching. She smiled and said that were typical hay fever symptom. This year is very bad because many people were affected by hay fever first time in their life. What a shame! I am one of them! The doctor gave me 30 Fexofenadine Hcl 120MG tables and a Nasal Spray. I checked the instruction and found that the tablet may cause headache, dizziness, tiredness/sleepiness, sickness, sleeping disorders, bad dreams or nervousness….Oh, I hope I would be lucky that I wouldn’t have any of the side effects!

  1. I can sympathise, it's the first year for me too! I had no idea, and just thought it was a cold :s
Ah well, I guess it means I'm not invincible then. Damn…

You are totally right Mia. At first I thought it was just a normal cold, so I didn't take too much care. However, after 2 weeks it became more and more serious, and I found the symptoms were different from cold, which made me a bit panic. Right, we need to look after ourselves well no matter how busy we are. Best wishes to all the hay fever victims!

Hello. Wendy, I understand your problem. I had hay fever for many years. And I really hated all the side effects of medicine. I searched for natural remedies. Then I discovered an all natural cure, no side effects !! I have never had it again ! Good luck with your situation .http://www.thenaturalremedies.com

71 years old, but chest congestion, choking and coughing started this year for the first time. Consultant says that he has seen this illness for 40 years but still cant explain the sudden onset. Did my heart attack in March 2006 and subsequent medication change me sufficiently to develop an allergy? Am being treated for a combination of hay fever and athsma! GP says that extraordinary high pollen count responsible, but sureley this happened before in the last 71 years?

  5. I am sorry to know that you got a hayfever the first time in your life at such a respected time. My landlady is in her seventies, and she told me her hayfever was getting better when she was getting older. This year my hayfever is better than last year, I guess it may becasue I go to sports centre very often every week, and eat well every day. No idea, just don't know….

Hope you can recover soon David! I think the rain will help!

If you really want something that works for hayfever and don’t want the side-effects, try acupuncture. Here is some good info on hayfever and acupuncture. It appears to be more effective than drugs :)

It seems worsening hay fever is another result of global warming: http://www.thedailygreen.com/2007/07/18/global-warming-exacerbating-allergies/4019/
