Blogs

Finally, I can have the internet access at home=]

Still organizing the things that I have learnt in the CBE module.  I'm going to write blogs about that.

I found an interesting phenomenon just now.  After the deadline for assessing the blogs, there is no new blog entries for more than 24 hours!  Is it a good thing or bad thing?

As what I have told before, I wrote my first online blog 7 years ago and I am quite loyal to blogs.  In fact, I don't really support the idea that blogs should be included in our academic assessment.  But I can't think of any ways to motivate students to write blogs for their modules.

When I am free, I love to read blogs of my friends.  I read several blogs from my colleagues and I learn a lot from them.  Sometimes, I can learn from the way they think.  Sometimes, I can find the points that I might miss in the seminars.  Sometimes, I understand that someone is facing similar difficulty as me and it's like a kind of encouragement.

But how can we make this to be more 'natural'? Blogs which aim at scoring marks for module can always be good, of course.  But for me, I don't feel comfortable with that purpose when I am writing.  Unfortunately, sometimes I may get lost and do according to the reality.

I just realize that this is similar to the case of audit using ISO9000.  At the very beginning, ISO aims for quality improvement.  However, now it becomes something like quality assurance.  People work hard before the audit period in order to reach the minimum requirements instead of doing their best.  Originally, ISO is a good idea.  But as time goes by, the nature has changed and it is out of control.

Maybe, that's reality...

i totally agree with you violet!!

4-5 years ago, i enjoyed blogging in my mother tongue language
    i am what i am …
i wrote many useful entries including my opinion and some with reflective thoughts

Currently, i prefer reading to writing.

However, to write blog in English with reflection is quite hard to find a good word and make reader approach writer’s emotion and thought but i try my best.
sometimes, i wrote 1-2 paragraphs then delete to 1-2 sentences left bcoz i feel uncomfortable to tell some stories. What’s more, I have to think and try to link each entry to the subject that we learned.

As we can see that many entries gushed in deadline date, people who are good at speaking and writing are advantageous. Some produced more than 5 blogs in the last day.

Finally, i stop and smile at the last entry name “Finished”
...and this blog stayed still for a day until… u violet.

    Because it’s reality

  2. hi honey~ I think we should stay positive about writing blogs here because we can actually learn a lot from them. I used to write blogs in my mother language, too. I agree that sometimes we may not express our feelings or emotions in a right way that can be understood my our readers. But this is a chance for us to practice our English. I cherish this opportunity=) I just feel it’s a pity about the phenomenon mentioned. I think we should believe in ourselves and continue to enjoy writing blogs even after the deadline so as to influence others, maybe. Moreover, I love the pictures in your blog and I believe you have put effords on them which I appreciate a lot=)

    Cheers

Hi Violet and Honey, good comments from both of you. Let me assure you both that you are doing fine and your positive attitude will help you to deepen your understanding, gain marks for the module and contribute to the MBE learning environment (win-win-win). Neither of you has cause to be concerned about the standard of your English; your ideas come across clearly, so just let your ideas flow and influence others:-)
