thanks Guys…

Follow-up to editing… from Warwick Shootout

this is really useful feedback – and is in line with the original Shootout idea/ideals. I had, perhaps, become over-influenced by the Warwick techies who REALLY want to play in editing suites.
Also XP editing software can cause mayhem with Warwick computers.. so probably a bad idea for that reason anyway.
In short – a victory for the in-camera school of thought, which puts much more emphasis on creativity and/or pre-planning to produce results.

Matchmaking Service

Writing about web page http://go.warwick.ac.uk/warwickshootout

Are you:

  • An actor or potential presenter seeking a showcase for your talent,
  • A scriptwriter who wants to be part of Shootout,
  • A video maker looking for some front-of-camera talent,
  • A creative director with no-one to direct?

Post your details or advertise for team members here!

The whole editing issue continues to bubble up… There is a hard core of potential teams that really wants to break out of the editing constraints. They point out that access to straightforward digital video editing is available as part of Microsoft XP as well as other sofware packages.
This has triggered quite a bit of brain working in techie and non-techie parts of the Shootout team.
This is our curent thinking:
Within quite strict time constraints we will permit the use of simple home editing software (available in Learning Grid) to produce more fine-tuned results within the 'linear – editing' rule.
Is this a helpful concession??

Help for video novices

Since we don't want to exclude ANY talent from this competition we will be offering some pre-event training.

This is what we have in mind (tutors available):

Performing for video – tips for aspiring actors and/or presentors

Storyboards and scripts – time to plan will be short, so it must be effective, this session will help you prepare

Using a video camera – three tutorial sessions offered in the Learning Grid

We are planning the first two workshops for the Saturday of Week 8 – and the Learning Grid tutorials during week 8 and 9. Will this be enough? too much? Is the timing right? Any other topics?

You know what to do!! Blog your suggestions and ideas NOW

Tshirts – your thoughts please!

Writing about web page http://go.warwick.ac.uk/warwickshootout

We're thinking about producing Tshirts for all competitors to wear when completing the event.

Personally I'd prefer a Tshirt that I could wear again, after the event, so we were thinking of a black T-shirt with a simple white "Warwick Shootout" logo.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Please post them as a comment…
