June 3rd – Health & Safety Management

Through some research, I found that the objectitive of health and safety management part in Wave Rider was as follows. Firstly, a reduction of safety problems such as accident, the healthy problems of staff. Secondly, the H&S management aimed to meet the government's requirements. Thirdly, build a good brand or reputation.

The health and sagety part is just like Deming system, which was a continues improvement process, a "plan, action, check, improvement" cycle.

Moreover, I think the asset management could not finish by system alone. It needs human surpport such as leadership and commitment, plan and strategic goal, assessment etc. In this manage tool, a good leadership may plays a core role in the whole

June 2nd – the choose of PMA topic

What I have learnt about KBAM was 3 parts: knowledge management, asset management and the integration.

The PMA asked me to choose one specific aspect of Wave Rider about its improvement (use the knowledge management and asset management). I analysised the asset management part as following:

asset management

Firstly, I was interest in facilities management, security management and H&S management. The facilities management was a huge picture as it had too many things to speak and the analysis might go less deep.

Then I compared two aspects, security part and health safety part. I thought that all of them are a good choice for 3000 words analysis. security mainly talked about the identification management, data protection, physical security etc.

In health and safety aspect, a latest UK Key Figures for 2009/2010estimated that about 152 workers were killed, nearly as a rate of 0.5 per 100 000 workers. It was an important problem which could not ignored. So I finally choose this aspect as my PMA topic.
