Thing 8 – Twitter

I now have a twitter account. It was easy ti sign up and I must confess that I am somewhat impressed by the number of academics and science education-based tweeters that I have easily found straight away. I shall put aside some time to look for more research contacts first of all based at Warwick, and then further afield.

Use this as a start: http://www.networkedresearcher.co.uk/2011/08/03/10-ways-researchers-can-use-twitter/

Excellent. Have you got any tips for how to find Warwick researchers on Twitter? Will you be searching for people who you know by name?

The ResearchExchange has 258 followers (today!) and although there are many journalists in the mix, there are also many Warwick researchers too: http://twitter.com/#!/ResearchEx/following

Also, as encouragement on podcasting, have you looked at Warwick’s own Knowledge Centre site? Here is a link to their science and maths subject area: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/knowledge/subjectarea/science/

They might be interested in hearing about research at Warwick that could be turned into a podcast for their site…
