I said:

When you’ve forgiven yourself,
There’ll no one left for you to forgive
for no one can do you wrong.
No one can offend you with their wrath
nor with their words: “I hate you”
or “I won’t forgive you”
for they have no right to…
and for you’ve already forgiven them
when you’ve forgiven yourself.

But I also contradicted myself:

A fine statement, but I must add this…
for forgiveness does not come hand in hand
with oblivion.
I’ve forgiven myself, and I’ve forgiven you…
But I have never forgotten about me and you
When I’ve forgiven myself.
When you’ve forgiven yourself,
There’ll be no regrets.

I said:

The past, with all its pain and joy,
becomes a silhouette,
a part of the chiaroscuros
which highlights the present
for you’ve ceased being a part of the shade,
and, in turn started to shine in the here and now
when you’ve forgiven yourself.

But I also contradicted myself:

A great metaphor, but I must object,
For the shade of the past
still haunts my nights
and I still dream about the things
I have forgiven, hence,

Nothing have ever been forgotten
when you’ve forgiven yourself.

....the most beautiful future will always depend on the need for forgetting the past. You will not be able to go from the past in life as long as you will not have overcome the errors of the past and all that hurt you….
