Workshop

On Thursday the 25th of October I have attended the Workshop of Academing Writing for Arts and Social Sciences, thus I would like to talk about it.

Since I am an international student, I thought that a help with writing my essays would be essential. Studying Italian Single Honours I also have to write essays in Italian too. Therefore, I found the Workshop really useful.

It gave us a better understanding on how to write an academic essay, what it is expected and also the best way of approaching an essay title. For example, the difference between an essay title which says "Examine...." and another which says "Analyse..." etc.

The workshop also focused on the quotations and on the way we should paraphrase or summary a quatation. In addition to that, a word was also said regarding referencing. Furthermore, word limit was also a fact which came up in the workshop. Personally, I always get my self in the situation of over word limit when it comes to writing an essay. The way in which Laura Davies advised us to revise our essay, was really helpful.

In other words, I found the above workshop essentially useful and I hope that my essay grades will improve if I apply, if not all, the most of the advices given through those 3 hours. I would strongly reccomend other students who are facing problems writing essay or who just want to improve their marks to attend such a workshop!
