TYPE OF DECISION MAKER – USAMA NADEEM (RDM)

The factors that could affect the final decision in any circumstances could also depend on the type of decision maker that is taking the decision. Different people can have different personalities and that can certainily impact the final decision and it can also affect the decision making process. A person having an introvert personality will handle the decision making process differently than the person who is an extrovert. Their personality reflects through their decsion making style and can therefore affect the decision. Because an extrovert will be verbal during meetings with his subordinates and will engage people and like communication to take place in any process whereas an introvert does not like to share ideas right till the very end. There could be decision makers, who are emotional and therefore take into account other people's feelings as well. There are people who are thinkers as well and they monitor everything in great depth and through every aspect. And then there are also people who use their intuition to reach decisions and value their intuitive thinking more than anything else.

So, it is really important to look at the type of decision maker because it is an important aspect regarding the decision making process since it can have different types of implications on the process and can therefore affect the decision.

So, now as we know about different types of decision makers, we can judge where we lie in all of these types and then can adjust our style because it is among the most important activity and responsibility inside an organization. This can surely help us in improving our decision making skills.

DECISION MAKING STYLE – USAMA NADEEM (RDM)

Among all the important factors while taking a decision, there are a lot of important factors that need to be considered. A robust decsion is one which is taken by keeping in mind all the possible important issues and consequences in mind. There are different types of decision making styles that a person can have. It certainly affects the decision that he takes. People possesing decision making styles can make different decisions. For example a who is a dictator or practises power, can posses an authoritarian decison making atyle. He can come up with his own decision without even taking anyone's consultations and then impose his orders throughout the organization. People can posses a democratic style of decision making, which takes into account all the stakeholders while taking a decision. That way, it would be a decision reached by consensus within an organization. There are also chances that a decision maker does not love taking risks and does not want to try anything new, so that means he possesses a risk averse style and the opposite could be an adventurous style of decision making.

It is really imporatant to take into consideration, the decision amking styles since they have a great impact on the decisions that are to taken. Although these styles could also have some different drawbacks in some cases but still it is really imporatant to know the style while analyzing a decision because it plays an important role in the decision making process.

Through this module we have been able to know about different types of decision making styles, which will help us in the future because now since we have done a major exercise during the module and also now we have an idea that our decision making style falls under one of these catagories. So, it is imporatant to notice the style in order to adopt appropriate style in a given situation.

TYPES OF DECISIONS – USAMA NADEEM (RDM)

Decision making is on of the most important step whether it be any situation or position. In an organizational context it is even more imnportant because in case of large firms and multi-nationals, important decisions have to be taken at the right time, which can have a great impact on firm's image or position. There are a few things that one should keep in mind while taking important decisions. Ther are many things that should be kept in mind for instance the type of decision, heuristics, style of decision making etc. It is really important to first of all analyze that what kind of situation are we facing and then take the decsion accordingly. For instance if we are want to take a decison regarding some day to day processes than we have to take an operational decision. But we really need to be carefull in case of the more important and long term decisions, which are the strategic decisions. So, the thinking process is more intense in these kind of dicisions.

It is really imporatant to follow all these steps while taking decisions within an organization and it is definitely helpful for people to take decisions because there is always a need to solve a problem and tackle a situation according to its importance and intensity. And following that, we also have to consider the heuristics aspect as well as biases that we may face in the decison making process.

It can definitely prove helpful in our future carrier because we have to take important decisions in many diferent situations and this can help as a framework for decision making in the real life problems and situations.
