Starting research in Germany

Follow-up to First day of research from The URSS Blog

Today, I arrived in Frankfurt and begun my research within the university library. The vast amount of material was overwhelming, but I hope to get some overview soon.
In order to group my material I will focus on recent newspaper articles on current higher education reform in Germany, first. Hopefully, I will have finished this and the photocopying of the important articles by tomorrow.
Then I will re-asses my research criteria, under the influence of my first impression on the debate, how German Universities should develop undermines my current plan to focus on: “Elite” universities, tuition fees, institutional reform (Stiftungs Universität) and the introduction of BA/MA degrees.
A problem which may arise is that my subject area is too broad and I need to gain a more focus.
The people here, especially the director of the library of the library of the University of Applied Sciences Brigitte Nottebohm, are incredibly helpful and so far it is a real pleasure working here.
