Whats up with the smoking ban??? nothing as usual?

Right so now that the ban was voted into place (thank god!) I would have thought our officers who apparently know whats good for us even though we may not think so might have actually carried out with their statement in which they said significant changes will be witnessed in Term 2 would have actually done something considering its in WRITING\ but what on earth is going on???? I dont see any improvements yet…..

well, cholo seemed much less smokey when I was there, so they are probably enforcing things there harder and extending the area, the half of the graduate near the windows is now non-smoking too and …. urrrgghhhh

Fair point, if you read the (yet to be finalized but publically available) minutes of the last Executive Committee you'll see you weren't the only person to have expected more. In hindsight, I think there was some over optimism in expecting to be able to implement "significant changes" in the three working weeks before the start of term (at a time many people also took holidays). We have already approved rules which made some changes, hopefully improvements from the point of view of non-smokers, to the smoking areas in the Union; a more substantial change was to put a lot more effort into enforcing the exisiting rules.

I can't say with absolute certainty that more change will happen, because we haven't agreed it yet, but I would certainly expect it to.
