I think my new favourite is the one of TP, Mummy Hannah, Sawa and Tararara laying in formation. I really like that one.
For comedy, miche and tara in sumo suits is pretty class!
As you can see I'm flaggin, time to sleep!
But if anyone has photos they think I should have from the last coupl of years, if they are digital then either email me or if you can make me a cd that would be superb and will make me beam from ear to ear. I've also got a scanner here that I can use quick and simply and doesnt take me long to scan in a film of developed photos so please let me know!
I'd particularly love any photos of the first 2 terms as I have only a couple and there use to be loads on people's websites when they were the fashion in my 1st yr!
….to the 2004 pages on my site for full coverage of the events of the next 3 terms.
I have many more memories that will go with me beyond the ones highlighted here, but well yeah these were the highlights for the site but all those little moments like the lunches after church on sundays and Adairs crazy parties where we turned his room upside down and bak to front the ridiculas things Steve and Matt have done in this house, wei wei fallin down the stairs, oh the list will go on for years and for years I'll be recalling them. Thanks guys!
Well my 2nd yr started with introducing the new crop to uni and it was cool getting to know Sarah and Michelle and the Knightcoters who formed my new 10:25.
The term I have to admit was taken up quite a lot by time spent with Fi crammed around a LOT of time given to CU plus rev, westwood, the odd maths lecture and everything else that was my crazy schedule. I think it was this term more than any when I really felt that the idea that students did nothing all day was a complete joke. Of course this year I'd have to agree hehe, maybe I overcompensated!
Anyhow Im getting tired and I feel I've reminisced a bit so I shall direct you to summer03 again for the main events of year1term1, thats the houseparty, party of five and the open house party we had here annnnnnnnnd…....
Ok just thought I havent told you about having a dining card and the hours on Gibbet Hill.
Thanks to having a westwood dining card I could go down to gibbet hill and get cooked breakfasts before lectures and during that last minute everyone work together on the assignments even though you were up til 3am the night before panic. Also they did brilliant baps, thats rolls with bacon, sausage or egg (or a combo of the above :D) which were PERFECT for grabbing inbetween lectures when you have 2/3/4 hours of maths in a row in GLT1. Man those were the days, none of this new Maths Institute rubbish.
Anyway term3 was obviously taken by a fair bit of revision but I do have a whole section of my own freshertim.co.uk (currently not available at that address) website devoted to it so what I think I'll do here is cut my losses for this term and revert you to…..
:D Wow that makes things easy. I'm gonna have a look through that myself tomorrow night I think. The relevant bit for term3 is all the links on the left hand side!
In term1 Mr Matthew Whitley set up a CU freshers band. We started playing in CU main meetings at the end of the first term but really started to get playing during 2nd term. This was the band that later went on to be the first resident freshers band at Soulfood Three in term3 and then play at The Party of Five again doin covers like at Soulfood in year1term1.
I mention this a) because it was a great time playing in that band [although sometimes stressful with certain perfectionists around but we gradually got used to playing together and it became a lot easier] b) it gave me the chance to become CU Music+ Secretary c) it was the first time I really got to play with a band d) we sounded pretty amazing sometimes and that wos an honour to be a part of e) i found an acoustic guitar partner
Me and Matt got to do loads of acoustic stuff over the next 2 terms for the CU. Our main favourites to play were Third Day songs which is why its appropriate to be listenin to them. Nothing Compares and These Thousand Hills were great fun to do, Matt's guitaring on When the Rain Comes and God of Wonders were something to behold though, considering he's only a wee Irishman and all that!
My favourite songs we did in that band in CU were Jesus You Alone with Chris' electric over the top , All My Days (beautiful saviour) with me and matt's crazily high harmony on the chorus we tried that capo 7 once hahaha, open the eyes of my heart wos always class with the sonicflood stolen G A chords between verses, annnnnnnd Work A Miracle In My Heart.
Me and Matt also got to lead worship on evenings at Westwood Church sometimes, well matt led I got to do lots of backing vocals and stuff which was brilliant fun for a change. One time we did it with Matt's gf of the time another becky i'm afraid and we did There Is a Redeemer and it was one of those moments that puts shivers down ur neck. I've had quite a few moments like that leading worship in CU and church but thats one that sticks in my mind.
Anyway thats quite enough of that. I missed the Rev concert at the end of the term becos like I said I'd been appointed as Music+ Sec so we went on the CU leaders weekend at Quinta Hall (thats my 2nd visit to Quinta) that weekend. It really struck us how much the CU needed to change and that was our focus for the next 3 terms, it worked brilliantly thanks to God but then he did soooooooo much more than we had planned, he saved souls and brought people to himself, people that now have their eternity in heaven secure becos of what we did on the committee and all the good work God is doin now we know is a direct result of the many many hours we put in as a committee.
I've gone on way too much about the music because that was something that I wanted to look back on and reflect as I havent for a long time and one of those things that was stopping me sleep but I will tell you allllllllllllllllllllllllll about the CU and my year on committee anytime you want (ask the interviewing teams at All Souls hehe) but not now!
I'm listenin to Third Day by the way. They'll feature more in the 2nd and 3rd terms though.
Ok first night of uni I was picked up from my halls, the wonderful Knightcote on Westwood with its bigger than anywhere else rooms and dining card, by Fi, Bex and Sian in Fi's micra followed by TP and Pope beeping Popes hooter in his ridiculas old MG car. We went to a Christian Focus quiz night at the chaplaincy and then onto the graduate.
These guys minus Pope who I was never at uni with, cant believe that cos we always knew each other so well, took me along to CU, Rev and my legs twitching, thats horrible! urgh! wot are you doing???? ok i give up, neway CU, Rev and Westwood Church. The 3 of which I am still at!
It's really thanks to Bex that I got to do so much worship leading in CU as she got me involved with her band at Westwood straight away and we did that together for the first year. There was a fair bit of stress over it sometimes but we enjoyed it on the Sunday once we got going with Fi singin inbetween us and keepin the peace.
She also dragged me into Rev Dance and Drama and at the end of the 1st term we performed in Reigate down in ?Kent? maybe for the president of Rev at the time, Rachel's grandma's church. Bit random but it was great fun for my first rev gig and performed a sketch all about Fresher Tim's first week at Revelation Rock-Gospel Choir (based on a true story!) which the choir found hilarious!
The first term was absolutely mental and I couldnt believe just how much happened to me in those first 10 weeks I went from this unknown fresher (for all of 5 hours) to the famous Fresher Tim who EVERYbody knew, even if I didnt yet know them!
Cu houseparty was wicked cos I was totally treated as one of the 2nd yrs, partly becos a lot of the first yrs still thought I was I think. In fact on that note one of the highlights of the first term was in week4, yes 4!, one of my hallmates was surprised to find out on the bus when we bumped into each other when i wos comin bak from Chloe, Jo and Ruths fairytale birthday party that I was in fact a fresher and not a 2nd or 3rd yr as most my hall thought! (Id had CU ppl always comin to my room for 10:25 and stuff and my best friend at the time again called Bex [thats now married Bex] came to stay at just the end of week3 so they thort i must be really settled- which I was but not 2 yrs settled!)
At the end of the term Gareth and Stu had a party round their house, already a regular place to visit off campus along with TeacherPauls house, for Christmas which was a great laugh. Gareth was still finding popcorn in his bedroom in the 2nd term!
As I type this I still have the label saying "Fresher Tim" that we made on Gareth's label maker that night in his room stuck under the screen of my laptop where I put it that night. Sad? Maybe but its special to me.
