January 1, 2012, Happy New Year!

Perhaps the newest of new years in ages. Beginning Distance MBA program this month from across the world (Seattle, WA, USA) and preparing for a tidal wave of change in schedule and routine. Increase in obligations (studying, reading, testing) will bring decrease in free time and after almost 20 years away from undergrad work, I am bracing for a bit of a rude awakening, as I'm pretty fond of my downtime. However, I've wanted to achieve this goal for a long time, and feel ready to get started...

Friends and family seem confused when I tell them what I'm doing. They become even more confused when I tell them I've chosen a program in the U.K. Even after explaining that I am trying to break through to a new level in my career and that I value education as an intrinsically important factor in excelling in business...they seem to remain doubtful. As far as the decision to choose an international program, l have definitely done my research, applied to both national and international schools, compared programs, costs, requirements and reviews. The decision to choose Warwick was based on a NUMBER of factors, but most of all, I was impressed by the flexibility and the opportunity to network with students from all over the world. What better way to share ideas than through a global perspective? And have I mentioned that the requisite travel to Europe doesn't suck either? Hmmmm....
