Got the melancholy after dinner blues,
Gonna hang me by the laces of my shoes,
Sure my hunger is arrested,
Now my sausages digested,
But there’s work to do and I just wanna snooze.
Composed one day in the maths block after a particularly fine lunch, maybe i ought to give it a tune.
I hear the collective voice of my readership (which I happen to know includes at least five people) in a strangely anguished tone, “Cooking for engineers? I thought you were a mathematician, what happened to you man? You’re not taking one of those silly engineering modules are you?”
Fear not, I am still very much the pure mathematician but thanks to a recommendation from Caroline I’ve found this awesome site. It’s basically just a recipe website but all the recipes are set out in a sensible way and it’s so much easier to follow than a normal recipe book because you only need to deal with the line that you’re on and don’t need to think about what’s happening in four lines time. Genius.
Here’s what the website says:
Michael selected the name “Cooking For Engineers” on a whim. He has no idea if it means “To cook for the purposes of providing engineers with food” or “To instruct engineers in the science and art of cooking”. He likes the ambiguity, and other people seem to find the name intriguing and even interesting. He regrets that the name can be misread (when in a rush) to be “Cooking Foreigners”.
