Slandered Man Blues

Baby went around besmirching my good name,
Said baby went around besmirching my good name,
I tried to love her still but it just wasn’t the same,

She went all over town said I was a mean ole drunk,
I say all over town she said I was a mean ole drunk,
Seems that’s the kind of dirty rumour a man just can’t debunk.

Well then she came back she said “Let me love you like before”,
Well then she came back she said “Let me love you like before”,
Say I had tears in my eyes as I packed her bags and threw them out the door.

Wish I could love her again but it wouldn’t be the same.
