working alone in KBAM

Wooooh man!!! When Paul told us about how this would be the culmination of all our working on the presentations on this one big presentation, there I was sniggering away in the corner thinking... Sure, this would be just like any other presentation and we would all be perfffffectly fine. But now that I am here, into the working of the presention, it really seems like a massive massive task. NOT just on the available content front but on various other fronts!!!

How do we co-ordinate 6 different peoples ideas to make it into one logical flow during the presentation??How do we make sure everybody is working along the same lines??  How are each of us going to actually understand all  that is put forward by the others??

Another question that I have is how each one of us usually has a good grasp of the entire presentation and the entire subject  in regard to the presentatin as we all end up working on it together in the previous modules. in this case, are we all not missing out to a large extend of learning when each of us are off doing individual work??? and I believe even the team work aspect comes into just the forming the presentation, We hardly meet to work on things other than to disucss each of our progress.

This is probably going to be a real world experience and we wil learn a lot from this but this really feels more like individual work and then just putting things together.

Either way,When I am done with this presentation, I really will be proud of the effort each of us are putting into it and hopefully ( fingers crossed) things will turn out good.

  1. Thomas,

I’m a little bit concerned about you hesitating in our approach to work into this task. And please do let me know if you think of another way to do it, that might work better. I think your question is really good:

“How do we co-ordinate 6 different peoples ideas to make it into one logical flow during the presentation??”

And it worth if every member of our team thinks about that, because I think this is what Knowledge Management is about…

How to get the must of what everyone know and will know regarding this task, “the same lines” I think must be something like looking to the same company with the same vision and assuming the same things, but sometimes perhaps it worth balancing individual and team work so that everyone can contribute.

I think about this as we tackle the seminar questions. Everybody contributes with a piece of knowledge which he/she gets by their own and then there is time for writing our thoughts an ordering them (tacit to explicit) then, the presentation, explicit to explicit, then everyone combines what its said with their own previous knowledge and then this is again tacit knowledge.

How do we make sure everybody is working along the same lines??

I don’t think we will go in the same lines but I think that is our discussions for, to align our thoughts and combine our knowledge.

How is each of us going to actually understand all that is put forward by the others?? (This is again explicit to explicit-Knowledge creation)

And actually I bet exactly the kind of questions you are asking are the ones organizations ask to actually create Knowledge.

So I guess this task it’s being experiential, but please, please do lead if you really think of another way of doing this.

Perhaps Blogging could help us to share the part we are responsible for…Since, many of the team members do not like Wiki.

Perhaps it worth everyone reading a bit of this and that to have and overall picture of what this is all about. But to my mind this is the purpose of our team discussions.

Another question that I have is how each one of us usually has a good grasp of the entire presentation and the entire subject in regard to the presentation as we all end up working on it together in the previous modules.

    SPECIALIZATION…Thomas, I am impressed of your questions…

The previous one is one managers must ask themselves, how do I understand what the specialized people in different parts of the organizations is doing. How do I understand the overall picture, without actually having to perform every job…

Someone, I think Vangelis, mentioned in his Blog (Wikis and Blogs) or even Facebook Awall, as a method of Knowledge creation, and I do agree, especially after reading your blog. How does a manager really knows what his/her peers colleagues, other people believe.

“In this case, are we all not missing out to a large extending of learning when each of us are off doing individual work??? And I believe even the team work aspect comes into just the forming the presentation, We hardly meet to work on things other than to discuss each of our progress.”

When do you want to join? I’m really sorry I didn’t know you felt like this…

“This is probably going to be a real world experience and we will learn a lot from this but this really feels more like individual work and then just putting things together.

I think we do not have to cross our fingers if we agree in a way everyone feels ok working.

Reading your blog have also make me question myself a lot, because I thought I was going along with the consensus. But I do not read you very convinced…

    Sincerely,

    Ede
