Free entry to England games in Cholo and the Market Place
I've heard about a number of instances in the last couple of days of people thinking the only way to watch England games in the World Cup is to pay to go to Kooler Kellar.
This is not the case. To clarify all England games can be watched in Cholo and the Market Place during the World Cup.
That is all.

Union General Meeting TONIGHT 7pm
Writing about web page http://www.sunion.warwick.ac.uk/portal/articles/autegm
There has been a lot of discussion about the AUT on blogs, in fact there was one point it was having a pretty good go at getting all the the hot topics!
A lot of that debate has been about the Union's stance on this issue and that being discussed tonight. Don't miss this opportunity to have your say.

General Meeting about the lecturer's strike
Follow-up to A topical blog from Sabblog
There is a Union Emergency General Meeting scheduled for 7pm on Monday in the Ramphal Lecture theatre. There we will be discussing the Union's position on the lecturers' strike. You should all have got an email about it anyway but all publicity is good publicity.
I would urge you all to come if you are free (but only if you feel comfortable doing so if you still have exams). The current policy proposed is available here
Basically I now take the view with General Meetings that it doesn't matter if they are inquorate so long as they are publicised properly. All four General Meetings this year have been advertised in very similar ways, yet there has been a marked difference in attendance and this can only really be down to the issues being discussed. If it is big enough students will come to talk about it. My gut feeling on this is that we should reach quorum, given the amount of discussion on here about it anyway.
If you can't come then please feel free to leave a comment with your view or if you don't want to comment publically drop me an email.

A topical blog
Writing about web page http://www.sunion.warwick.ac.uk/portal/Default.asp?url=ARTICLE&article_id=747
I direct you to the news article on the Union website. Please try not to have a riot on my blog. The policy being put forward will be available at some point tomorrow morning. I trust given the discussion had on blogs so far about this issue we shouldn't have too much trouble getting it quorate.
Other than that it's been a busy day. I spent much of the day interviewing, so that's two days of interviews in a row. One on each side of the table.
The rest of the day was spent dealing with my inbox from yesterday (on average I get about 30–40 emails a day).
As ever anything you want to ask a sabbatical you can, but if you could refrain from it being AUT related that'd be grand!

An attempt at a Sabbatical blog
I am the Commercial Development and Communications Officer at the Students' Union. I am going to attempt to do some fairly consistent blogging for the remainder of my term in office. I would have liked to have done this earlier in the year, but to be honest up until Easter a 50 hour week was a quiet one! Now however with most people busy revising and with the majority of my tasks now planning for next year I am working sensible hours so I thought it would be a good idea to try and give some kind of insight into what a sabbatical officer does.
Today was mostly spent doing work on the U and Back 2 U magazines. They've been rushed sometimes in the past but I am trying to do a really good job on them and make sure the information is relevant and interesting to the people they are going to. So fingers crossed they'll be good.
I'm going to leave it at that, it's time for bed!

UNION NEWS: Union General Meeting – 7pm Tuesday – Ramphal Building
Writing about web page http://www.sunion.warwick.ac.uk/portal/Default.asp?url=ARTICLE&article_id=456
The first Union General Meeting of the year will be held in R0.21 (Ramphal building) at at 7pm with Gemma Tumelty, General Secretary of NUS speaking at 6:30pm. All students should attend and have their say.
What is a General Meeting?
Well it is a town-hall style meeting, where any student can come and discuss their views on the different motions up for discussion, you also have an opportunity to ask Officers questions at the beginning of the meeting. Decisions made at a general meeting override those made by Union Council. So make sure you put it in your diary and come along and have your say about what the Union does.
What are going to talk about?
The full agenda is here. There are four important policies up for discussion, you can read their brief descriptions below.
What do I need?
Yourself and your uni card
General Meeting Motions
Military in the Union

UNION FEEDBACK: Give me your views
Writing about web page http://www.sunion.warwick.ac.uk/feedback
I'm going to be using this blog every couple of weeks to actively collect feedback about the Union and what we are doing.
We want to know positives and negatives about any aspect of what the Union does, so after the first week or so of term (or indeed the last week of September and start of October if you're a postgraduate who doesn't get the luxury of long holidays!) what have we done right and wrong?
Please don't post abuse, we are trying to help make things better here so constructive things only would be appreciated. Also feel free to draw my attention to previous posts, although I will be searching various Union related words to find stuff people have written previously.
Ok, go for it…..
