Annual target reached – 3000 cycling miles!

Follow-up to November cycling summary from Steve's blog

While out cycling yesterday lunchtime my 3,000th mile of the year ticked over. I wasn’t expecting it to happen quite so soon, but I’ve managed to get out quite often this month. The weather has been chilly but otherwise pretty good so I’ve managed to get out 8 lunchtimes and cycle a total of 100 miles on top of my usual commute. I will probably be taking it a little easier for what remains of the month, but I’m guessing I’ll end up at 3025 miles or thereabouts for the year.

I’ll do a proper summary later, but here are a few numbers for the year so far: 3004 miles (1130 miles at lunchtimes), 190 hours, 463 separate journeys.

  1. Well done. That’s pretty impressive. I’m pretty happy with my 850ish since getting my new bike at the end of August. Not bad for 4 months (with a couple of weeks of taking it easy due to half marathon training and recovering)

850 in 4 months is 2550 for the year. That’s not bad going either. Another 150 miles in those 4 months and you’d be keeping up with me. I now need to decide on what to aim for next year. Tricky…

  3. Not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with the cycling throughout next year as I’m unsure of what my situation will be after I graduate in the summer but I think a pace of 1000 miles every 4 months seems like a good target for me for the start of the year.
