That's code for confusion. So the tracklisting was already on the HMV site but with 18 tracks even though they SAID they recorded 20 and we were told we heard half of each half…if you see my meaning.

Here's the tracklist courtesy of nme.com I don't know why it's done the funny spacing. let's pretend we've all heard all of them just so we can fool our brains…or something.

The Editors

Writing about web page http://westmidlands.ideasfactory.com/music_sound/features/feature77.htm

In the absence of time to write loads of stuff that I need to catch up on, have a read about hot new Brum band The Editors at the link above.

Filllllums

Writing about it's about films! from Tilting At Windmills

Why thank you Han for passing the baton to me. I can do it while I munch on an assortment of delights from Tesco. Ah Gridding it up to the max.

The last film I saw at the cinema… how depressing that it's been so long since a cinema trip that I genuinely can't remember....hmmm....hmmm some more....I think it was Team America: World Police. It's not that there isn't always loads I want to see, I just assume a cinema trip to take hours and hours and hours (too many Bollywood films watched) so put it off then lo, the film isn't on anymore.

Last film I watched otherwise… again, memory a little hazy but I think it was Josie and the Pussycats

Films I'm looking forward to seeing… Hitchikers (time for the whole ooo I've been on their barge, thing?) Star Wars return of the Sith, The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, Mysterious Skin (or something like that) and numerous others that, once again, I have forgotten the names of…really need to fix that memory o mine.

Total number of films I own… worryingly, about 7. Stems from my dad's insistence that I don't see a film more than once. There's various others recorded off the telly but I always seem to be watching everyone else's anyway.

Five films that mean something to me… Mr India, Maine Pyar Kiya, Monsters Inc, Flight of the Navigator, The Goonies

Honourable mentions… Taken for not strictly speaking being a film as it's in several hour long episodes but it's a Spielberg so that'll do!

Passing the baton… to Eimear, Adam, Chris Carter, Heather, Bashmore

Allergic to allergies

Now my immune system is quite robust most of the time and allergies I have are quite pathetic: dust and pollen. The latter of which has only been for the past few years (but hayfever sufferers on campus, just a warning that mine is worse in coventry and warwickshire than anywhere else in the country).

Another allergy I have is to Septrin, an old-skool antibiotic that they don't even use anymore.

Oh yeah, and, my dad JUST told me (cos thanks to my dad propping a door open, I made blood spurt out one of my fingers around the nail) that I'm allergic to sulphurous medicines too. I pointed out that noone's ever told me that before, but apparently "it's on all your medical records"...I guess this would be useful if they hadn't all been lost (up to the age of 12) by the NHS somewhere along the way.

Jools Holland

So, I am now 6 tracks off hearing the whole Foos album.

I watched Later with Jools Holland and forced my parents to watch too(seeing as they wouldn't let me go back for Crash due to the lateness of the hour). Gave them an education in new music and also introduced my mum to my iPod and played her stuff she'd like.

Additionally, my mum thinks Dave Grohl's fit (thoughtfully during Jools Holland: "that picture on the front of the NME doesn't really do him justice does it?") and my dad should never be allowed more than 2 glasses of wine of an evening. He was trying to be the black eyed peas. My camera ran out of memory for him being Liam Gallagher, however amusing photos of him being "Westside" to come..)

A few things

Bizzare
I don't think I even want to know why a thing keeps popping up om my parents' computer saying that "virgins.exe has been banned from accessing the internet".

The waxing of legs
Is a risky business and I don't trust myself with it, not least because too much bending and twisting would be involved and who knows what injuries someone as clumsy as myself could inflict. However, there's only one place that I trust with such an activity as everywhere else people have invariably burnt me/bruised me/ripped various bits of skin off/done all three

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
OH MY GOD. The KFC advert showing people speaking with their mouth full, has received the highest number of complaints IN ADVERTISING HISTORY because it is impolite and mocks people with speech impediments. Once again, let me say: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? How fucking ridiculous can you get. All those who are so easily offended just stop giving yourselves a reason to complain by snuggling under your bed and remaining there.

Evilness of iPods
Yes they are shiny but at the same time can be so annoying. Firstly they require the use of iTunes, which is good apart from the fact that you can't re-order anything in your record library, you can only do that if you make an individual playlist, which is just annoying. Also being a hard drive, they fuck up like any other computer. Such as deciding to randomly reset when I'm listening to things and taking ages to load up when first turned on. BAH.

National Smile Week
I believe this starts on Sunday. Now most of you that know me, will know I always have one of these on my face, even at the most annoying time of day: morning. I'll put up a picture of my toothy grin soon, but don't have any on this computer. But yes, smile one and all, if you don't already.

Revenge of the Sith
Now I missed Episode II and never got round to watching it, but I liked Episode I and generally I am quite fond of Sci Fi so quite keen on going to see Episode III. On which note, if you haven't seen the Steven Spielberg series, Taken, then do.

AC/DC
Ah Foo Fighters followed by AC/DC, Colin and Edith, I salute you.

Crash
On at the union tonight: People Get Ready, which incidentally, is an album you should own.

Best of You lyrics
About to go edit them, hearing them at the press conference I saw flaws in my trascription…

In Your Honour

Writing about web page http://www.foofighters.com

Yes they're putting the "u" into Honor for the UK version of the album.

Can you hear me?
Hear me screaming?

Dave, I couldn't care less if you were whispering, but I imagine you look even more broody when you're screaming so yes, I will sit and hear you.

Listen out to RaW for an intimate press conference with 3 of the Foo Fighters (Nate, Chris and Taylor, The Grohl was ill) coming up in the next week or two.

Also listen for the following station ident:

Taylor: You're listening to RaW…
Shall: 1251
Taylor: 1251!....FM?
Shall: AM
Taylor: AM!! and this is Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters…hmm, hope you can do something with that…

Also, hopefully, look out in The Boar in coming weeks to get a sneaky insight into half of the album.

The Offspring

A mini rant, what the hell are they doing releasing a single that sounds almost EXACTLY like The Kids Aren't Alright?! Timing of woah-oh's included. Meh.

Brendan Benson

I've only very recently caught up to Brendan Benson. I loved Spit It Out when it was released then Tess's enthusiasm for it encouraged me to have a listen some more.

Off the current album, Alternative to Love

My two favourite tracks at the moment are Cold Hands (Warm Heart) and What I'm Looking For : importantly, these were my favourite tracks when I unexpectedly (but happily) saw Brendan Benson live a week or two ago.

Voila a direct quote from Tess (I think)

less of an album, more of an ear snuggle.

It's true! Here are the lyrics from those two favourite tracks, just in case anyone's interested!

Cold Hands (Warm Heart)

Cold hands, warm heart
We just need some time apart
And everything will be okay
Oh no, not again
Why does it always happen?
It seems like every other day

You're too quiet, I'm too loud
Now we've rid a storm cloud
I'll see you on the other side
Old habits, young ways
Maybe we're just a phase
But we can say we really try

And it really shouldn't be this hard
You know it really shouldn't be
And if we can only see it this far
Well then I hate to say it, but it's obvious
I'm telling you, girl, there's no future for us

All talk, no action
So what's the big attraction?
And don't tell me it's "just because"
All work, no play
Don't wanna go on this way
I wanna go back to the way it was

And it really shouldn't be this hard
You know it really shouldn't be
And if we can only take it this far
Well then we've got to end it before it's too late
The love that is left turns quickly to hate

Cold hands, warm heart
We just need some time apart
And everything will be okay

What I'm Looking For

Well I don't know what I'm looking for
But I know that I just wanna look some more
And I won't be satisfied
'Till there's nothing left that I haven't tried
For some people it's an easy choice
But for me there's a devil and an angel's voice
Well I don't know what I am looking for
But I know that I just wanna look some more

Well I don't know what I'm living for
But I know that I just wanna live some more
And you hear it from strangers
And you hear it from friends
That love never dies, love never ends
Now I don't wanna argue, no I don't wanna fight
'Cause you're always wrong and I'm always right
Well I don't know what I am living for
But I know that I just wanna live some more

I used to be involved, and I felt like a king
Now I've lost it all and I don't feel a thing
I may never grow old, I may never give in
And I'll blame this world that I live in
I visit hell on a daily basis
I see the sadness in all your faces
I've got friends who have married
And their lives seem complete
Here I am still stumbling down a darkened street

And I act like a child and I'm insecure
And I'm filled with doubt and I'm immature
Sometimes it creeps up on me and before I know it
I'm lost at sea
But no matter how far I row
I always find my way back home
But I don't know what I've been waiting for
But I know that I don't wanna wait anymore

Looking for…
What I'm looking for…
Looking for…
What I'm looking for…
Looking for…
What I'm looking for…
Looking for…
What I'm looking for…
Looking for…
What I'm looking for…
