The awesome power of Warwick Blogs on Google

Writing about an entry you don't have permission to view

It's been documented time and again that Google loves Warwick Blogs, but here is yet more proof (and a warning for anybody posting stuff they may not want to be associated with – prospective employers can use Google too, y'know!).

As I speak, the "Television for sale" article referred to above is number one hit in the world on for "tv for sale" (without quotation marks)! It's also 5th on (I didn't know that results from the two were different on a worldwide search) and 4th on both sites with the query "television for sale".

This means said TV was sold yesterday to a happy non-Warwick customer.

Know what's scary… the power of Warwick Blogs is increasing because of being indexed on Technorati and because of the changes that Andy has made

Er, Google loves blogs. There's nothing special about Warwick blogs; it's just the amount of interlinking and frequent updating common to blogs in general that rockets them upwards in Google's estimation.

This has been well-known for years, since long before Warwick blogs existed. So much so that SEO companies started adopting blog-type-model websites and spamming us all to hell and back just for Google ranking.

Here's an article from early 2002 demonstrating this :-)

  3. Google especially loves Warwick Blogs – it's a much stronger effect than I've seen on other blog sites. The interlinking is there, but it's within an which really helps for the pagerank.

Not so. As Max says, WB inherits the very high ranking which Google gives to all the domains under If we'd set it up as the ranking wouldn't be anything like as high.
